The Central Coast of California includes many areas that seem wild and unsettled. Some of which are privately owned cattle ranches or vineyards, some of which is public lands in the form of parks and preserves. There are wonderfully interesting and challenging roads in this area as well. This one is G16, running east of from Carmel Valley. In Springtime, the hillsides are verdant green and covered in wildflowers.
